Where Gilmore Girls was filmed — and where Stars Hollow came from
Here’s the honest answer: Gilmore Girls was shot on a studio backlot in California, so there is no Stars Hollow street to walk. What’s real is the place it was modeled on — the Litchfield County towns of Washington, New Milford, and Litchfield, Connecticut, and The Mayflower Inn in Washington, long cited as the inspiration for the Independence Inn. That’s what this trip goes after: the town greens, the gazebo, the diner, the bookstore and the antique shops that gave Stars Hollow its shape, plus a day at Yale in New Haven, where Rory went to school.
